Chery’s E5 platform is a fully-electric version of the petrol-powered C5 platform aimed at expanding the company’s footprint here in Australia while pioneering Chery’s battery-electric aspirations. Inside, the E5’s front cabin is clean and features some clever storage options, like the hidden tray beneath the floating centre console, while a strong technology list headlined by a pair of 12.3-inch displays, even in the base model, mean buyers on a budget don’t miss out on any tech. There’s decent second row accommodation and a boot measuring 300 - 1,079L when you drop the rear seats, making it a small SUV package without any compromises when it comes to practicality. With an extremely long features list for the base model and some more premium touches in the E5 Ultimate flagship, the E5 range is impossible to ignore if you’re after a bargain in the small electric SUV space.
