Vehicle overview
GWM’s latest Cannon range has been quick to make an impression on the dual-cab ute segment, with the allure of the company’s sharp pricing backed by a strong and capable platform that doesn’t shy away from a challenge on the job site or when pressed off-road. GWM offers the Cannon range with a choice of two engines, with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit producing 120kW and 400Nm in the Cannon Premium range, while the Cannon Lux, Ultra, Vanta and XSR all come powered by a meatier 2.4-litre turbo-diesel pushing out 135kW of power and 480Nm of torque. This lifts towing figures from 3,200kg in the Premium up to 3,500kg in the rest of the range. While many of its key rivals are quite spartan inside, the GWM Cannon cabin presents a more SUV-like cockpit, while the 12.3-inch infotainment system fitted to all versions, including the base model, puts many of its competitors to shame. With GWM’s seven-year warranty sitting as a cherry on top, the Cannon is impossible to ignore in the space and presents a particularly strong value proposition within the crowded ute segment.
