Vehicle overview
Known as the ‘Big Dog’ in its home market, the GWM Haval H7 slides into the company’s lineup above the more conventional H6 midsize SUV, giving buyers a more adventurous-looking option within the range. The H7 comes powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit paired with an electric motor that produce a combined 179kW of power and 530Nm of torque, meaning this is a medium SUV with some serious power up its sleeve while sipping a claimed 5.7L per 100km of fuel. Power is sent to the front wheels via a dedicated hybrid transmission, with the H7’s braked towing capacity standing at 1,500kg. Inside, the H7’s cabin picks up a rugged, adventurous design that features some unique switchgear, while the company’s 14.6-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto maintains its appeal on the technological front. The H7’s second row offers a generous amount of legroom while the tall, boxy proportions mean there’s a stack of headroom and a decent boot measuring in at 483L with the seats standing, expanding to 1,362L with the rear bench folded.
