Vehicle overview
The Omoda 9 comes from Chery, though the company has launched its own sub-brand in recognition of the fact that the Omoda 9 is a far more premium product than other vehicles in its stable. It comes powered by a complex plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit with no less than three electric motors that, combined, produce a monstrous 395kW of power and 650Nm of torque, meaning it can hit 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Power for those electric motors comes supplied by a 15.9kWh battery pack that allows the Omoda 9 to drive up to 145 kilometres on the WLTP test cycle and helps to drop combined fuel economy figures down to a claimed 1.4L/100km. Inside, the Omoda 9’s cabin presents well and offers a range of storage options thanks to that floating centre console, while leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and a pair of 12.3-inch displays are just the beginning of a particularly long equipment list.
