New tech, a new facelift and upgraded drivetrain are all a part of the midlife update. Exterior updates include new lights and grille which makes the car look sharper and distinctive.

Interior that you’ll want to be in

Like most modern Hyundai’s, it has a European vibe inside with materials that are nicely made. If you opt for the Elite variant, it comes with partially leather seats, leather steering wheel which enhance premium feel. The centre console is very well laid out and easy to use. The interior feels airy as there are loads of headroom and legroom up front and in the rear even if you are over 180cm tall. The Hyundai Tucson also provides a power socket in the rear so kids can charge their tablets or phones to keep themselves entertained.

Boot space in the Tucson is great and is larger than some of its competitors in this segment. It’s also important to note that you get a full size spare wheel under the boot floor for emergencies.

Safety tech

The highlight of the Tucson’s technology is its SmartSense pack which is available as an optional extra for lower variants and standard on higher models. Whether you are parking in tight spaces or driving your kids to school, the Tucson’s blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist warning, driver attention warning, rear cross-traffic collision warning and adaptive cruise control. If you opt for the Go base model, you’ll find there is still a decent amount of tech including a 7” display Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

The new Tucson wants to be a part of every family’s daily life and it does it by being what a mid-size SUV should do. Superior practicality, a stylish interior and safety features makes it one of the best contenders in the market. Overall a successful update to stay contemporary and it deserves a consideration if you’re looking a new SUV.
