The MG IM5 is a sleek electric sedan with 800V tech, blistering acceleration, long range and MG’s most luxurious interior yet, aiming to rival premium EVs in the high-end battery-electric segment.
The IM5 presented by MG is a pioneering new vehicle for the company as it eyes new competitors in a completely new segment of the market. You can think of it as MG’s equivalent of a Lexus or Genesis, packaging all of the company’s latest battery-electric tech into a super premium sedan. MG offers the IM5 range in three variants and two choices of battery sizes. There’s the Premium, Platinum and range-topping Performance versions, the latter of which can sprint to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds thanks to a dual motor, all-wheel drive system, making it one of the fastest performance vehicles on the market. The entry-level IM5 Premium RWD picks up a 75kWh LFP battery offering up to 490km of range on the WLTP test cycle, increasing to 575km in the IM5 Performance and topping out at 655km worth of range in the IM5 Platinum RWD. There’s 153kW DC fast-charging in the base model, increasing up to a rapid 396kW in the Platinum and Performance versions. Inside, the IM5’s cabin is super clean and modern, with a massive 26.3-inch touchscreen display headlining the dashboard and another 10.5-inch display sitting underneath showcase the company’s latest in-car tech. Upgrading to the IM5 Platinum adds a set of 20-inch alloys while the IM5 Performance AWD picks up air suspension with continuously controlled dampers and some super grippy Pirelli P-Zero tyres.
