Alpine

Alpine is a French performance vehicle manufacturer and racing team that has enjoyed a major revival in recent years headlined by an entry into Formula 1 and its mid-engined sports car homage to a previous hero, known as the A110.

Alpine’s history traces back to 1955 when it was first established in France, where it was acquired by Renault Sport and re-launched as a sole entity in 2017 with the release of the Alpine A110 sports car just a few years later.

The A110 shares its name, as well as a huge number of design cues with the Alpine A110 that enjoyed a long production run between 1961 and 1977, in a nod to the company’s impressive racing and sports car pedigree.

Currently, the A110 is the only Alpine vehicle on sale here in Australia, although the company has announced plans to bring a 100 per cent battery-electric sports car to the market in the near future.

Alpine FAQs

Alpine is primarily a sports car brand that has become significantly more premium and luxurious with the launch of the A110 sports car.

The A110 gains a heap of luxury features like leather and Dinamica seat and dashboard upholstery, aluminium pedals, sport seats, leather stitching and carbon fibre interior highlights, as well as a heap of performance hardware that you’ll only find from Europe’s finest luxury brands.

This includes adaptive suspension hardware and adjustable exhaust systems and Michelin Pilot tyres straight from the factory.

Alpine’s latest sports car, the A110 is priced from $100,387 for the entry-level Pure variant, with prices moving to $106,500 for the mid-spec A110 Légende variant and up to $115,000 for the range-topping A110 S.

Alpine also offers a number of optional extra packages for the A110 sports car, including a carbon fibre roof package that is priced at $3590, a set of 18-inch forged Fuchs wheels for $3580, an upgraded set of brakes for $1790, an active sport exhaust for $2690 and an upgraded Focal sound system for $2190.

The Alpine A110 sports car comes powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

In the entry-level Pure and mid-spec Légende variants, this engine produces 185kW of power and 320Nm of torque, while Alpine tunes the same 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine up to 215kW of power and 320Nm of torque in the range-topping A110 S; all of which power the rear wheels only via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

This results in 0-100km/h sprints of 4.5 seconds for the S and Légende, dropping to 4.4 seconds in the A110 S, while the top speed is limited to 250km/h.

Alpine manufactures the A110 sports car at its factory on the North coast of France, just outside the town of Dieppe.

Moving forward, Alpine has signed an agreement with Lotus Cars to co-develop the successor of the A110, which is expected to hit the market some time in 2025, although exactly where the next-generation A110 replacement will be built is yet to be confirmed.
