The Ford Everest has received a tough new off-road variant called the Tremor that aims to shake things up in the family 4x4 wagon segment.

The Everest is still a best-seller in the segment, with Ford furthering the appeal of its adventurous seven-seat family package with a tough-looking, all-terrain-conquering variant that sneaks into the lineup just below the plush, Platinum flagship.

While there's been no shortage of limited edition Everest variants, the Tremor is more than a few extra badges and a special paint finish.

Instead, the Tremor hits the ground running with a stack of off-road performance upgrades, Ford's superior 3.0-litre engine, a lift kit and super aggressive tyres that aim to chew up even the toughest trails without breaking a sweat.

The question remains, though, whether this hardcore take on the almighty Everest platform compromises its appeal as a practical and comfortable 4x4 family wagon.

To find out, we got behind the wheel of the Everest Tremor to see if it retains enough civility to remain a family chariot and just how it stacks up against already-competent Everest variants and its fiercest rivals.

What Features Does the Ford Everest Tremor Have?

Features specific to the Ford Everest Tremor include a set of 17-inch alloys wrapped in wider 265/70 General Grabber AT3 tyres, a 29mm lift kit with position-sensitive Bilstein shocks, heavy-duty side steps, a bespoke Tremor honeycomb front grille with inbuilt LED lights, a steel bash plate, grey wheelarch protection, an added 'rock crawl' drive mode for the 4x4 system, Tremor exterior badges and embossed seats and some all-weather floor mats.

You also pick up a stack of features found in lower-ranking members of the Everest lineup.

This means the Everest Tremor comes equipped with a locking rear differential for the full-time 4WD system, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, leather upholstery, LED head and tail lights, adjustable off-road driving modes, privacy glass, a powered tailgate, a 400-watt power inverter, two front tow hooks, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad and keyless entry & start.

It’s worth noting that the review vehicle you’re looking at was fitted with Ford's optional Rough Terrain Pack, which adds a beefy front bar, extra underbody protection and a set of auxiliary switches for $3,500.

It was also fitted with the optional Premium Seat Pack, which adds ten and eight-way power adjustment for the pilot and co-pilot, respectively, as well as seat heating and ventilation and is priced at $1,100.

Finally, this review vehicle picked up Ford’s Touring Pack, which adds a tow bar, integrated brake controller, surround-view monitor and Ford's Pro Trailer backup assist system and adds another $2,900 to the price tag.

Ford Everest Tremor Connectivity & Infotainment Features

The Everest Tremor receives the same 12-inch infotainment display you'll find in the Everest Trend and above.

It's a great unit, if not at the very top of the segment when it comes to usability, screen size, resolution and a solid range of features.

Ford’s 12-inch, vertical arrangement sits neatly between the Everest's unique air vents, making its way from the edge of the dash down to the top of the centre console arrangement, giving you tonnes of screen real estate.

The design is also nice and ergonomic, with the display remaining easy to access on the dashboard, rather than atop it, meaning you don't have to stretch too high to access even the furthest reaches of the display.

2025 ford everest tremor connectivity

The menus are easy to navigate and pretty snappy thanks to Ford's latest Sync4 operating system underneath, with designers retaining a physical volume dial for quick adjustments on the fly.

There’s AM/FM and DAB+ digital radio thrown in alongside an eight-speaker sound system that gets the job done, but is slightly underwhelming considering the Tremor's high-ranking status in the Everest family.

That said, we still think Ford's infotainment tech is amongst the best in this particular segment, even after Toyota gave the latest-generation Prado a major infotainment overhaul.

Does the Ford Everest Tremor Have Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto?

Potential buyers will be pleased to know that Ford has you covered when it comes to wireless smartphone mirroring in the Everest Tremor.

There's wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto thrown into the mix, covering both ecosystems.

Better yet, Ford's infotainment system is amongst the best, not only in its class, but on the entire market when it comes to the simplicity of pairing your phone and, perhaps more importantly, handing over the CarPlay or Android Auto connection to your co-pilot.

2025 ford everest tremor infotainment system

Some vehicles make you dive deep within multiple sub-menus in order to crack this code.

In the Everest, however, you’re no more than three clicks away from choosing who has control over the wireless Apple Carpay or Android Auto connection and when you're out on the road with a fully-loaded cabin taking requests, this makes a world of difference.

Is the Ford Everest Tremor Comfortable to Drive?

Ford has pulled no punches when it comes to the off-road enhancements side of the Everest Tremor equation.

Does this mean it's a more unforgiving beast on the road and, subsequently, less appropriate for family duties?

Normally, the answer would be a definitive yes. In the Everest Tremor, however, things remain impressively user-friendly in spite of the significantly higher ride height.

2025 ford everest tremor off-road

Under the bonnet, power comes supplied by Ford's 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel unit that kicks out 184kW of power and 600Nm of torque to all four wheels via a ten-speed automatic.

On the road, this engine is absolutely excellent and one of the major selling points of more premium Everest variants in the lineup.

Despite its size and 2,550kg kerb weight, acceleration off the line in the Tremor feels effortless every single time, with the V6 turbo-diesel feeling - and sounding - like a steam train as you pick up the pace.

The ten-speed automatic keeps pretty busy at lower speeds around town, though shifts are pretty slick and take place without you noticing, most of the time.

The Everest steering rack remains impressively lightweight for a vehicle of this purpose, which means it's not too much of a pain navigating your way through a tight car park.

On the road, the Tremor feels super confident and more than capable of pulling off a cross-country trip without breaking a sweat.

2025 ford everest tremor headlights

There’s slightly more body roll over the regular Everest platform, though you'll be hard-pressed to know the difference behind the wheel, such is the rock-solid footing on the road from the 30mm track extension.

You will find, however, the Tremor is a bit less poised in the corners due to that aggressive all-terrain tread on the tyres, though its overall heft helps to keep things planted in the corners.

Ford's upgraded springs and new Bilstein shocks eat up punishment on a rough stretch of country road without an issue, making the Tremor an outstanding long-distance tourer for a wide range of Aussie conditions.

Is the Ford Everest Tremor Confident Off-Road?

As you might imagine, a bespoke off-road version of the already competent Everest platform proves nothing short of beastly off the beaten track.

Headlining a healthy list of heavy-duty enhancements for the Everest Tremor's wider-track platform include an added 29mm worth of ride height from the upgraded suspension package that features Bilstein position-sensitive dampers, bringing total ground clearance figures to 255mm.

2025 ford everest tremor exterior

There's also acres of space within the wheel arches that allow for pretty extreme wheel articulation for those aggressive Grabber AT3 tyres that measure 265/70.

Ford's meaty V6 turbo-diesel unit certainly comes in handy when the going gets tough, serving up a welcome 600Nm of torque to all four wheels via the ten-speed auto and electronic locking rear differential.

A locking front differential would have been a great addition to the package, though the Tremor remains super capable without it thanks to Ford's clever 4x4 drive modes.

Over the regular 4x4 drive settings, the Tremor picks up a rock crawl mode, which takes into account slippage at both the front and rear axles.

2025 ford everest tremor back

The end result is a pretty significant increase in the Tremor's approach and departure angles over the regular Everest platform, which makes it a super capable off-road package and indeed one of the best options in the segment.

  • Ground Clearance: 255mm

  • Wading Depth: 800mm

  • Approach Angle: 32 degrees (up from 30.2)

  • Departure Angle: 26.8 degrees (up from 25)

  • Breakover Angle: 23.9 degrees (up from 21.9)

How Much Can the Everest Tremor Carry and Tow?

Ford's additional hardware for the Tremor has come at some expense to payload figures, though it remains an excellent option for towing heavy boats, caravans and trailers.

Loaded up with a 3.5-tonne trailer, the Everest Tremor has 300kg worth of payload remaining when you subtract the trailer mass and kerb weight from the 6,350kg GCM figures.

2025 ford everest tremor side

Payload figures have, dropped slightly over its nearest Everest Sport sibling, though thankfully, Ford has increased the Tremor's GVM figures to retain its pulling-power abilities.

  • Kerb Weight: 2,550kg

  • Braked Towing Capacity: 3,500kg

  • Gross Vehicle Mass: 3,240kg

  • Gross Combination Mass: 6,350kg

Is it Fuel Efficient?

Fuel efficiency is one area the Everest Tremor fails to disguise its meaty, almost unforgiving approach to off-road motoring.

After all, there’s no beating the laws of physics when you're tall, wide and weigh the better part of 2.5 tonnes.

2025 ford everest tremor engine

Ford's turbo-diesel V6 provides immense power, though it sips far more fuel than the smaller 2.0-litre bi-turbo powering lower-ranking members in the range.

The company says you can get the Tremor's V6 down to as low as 8.5L per 100km on a combined cycle, though we struggled to get anywhere near these manufacturer claims.

On a mix of town, country, off-road and highway driving, we covered 1,046 kilometres and averaged 10.1L per 100km.

2025 ford everest tremor fuel efficient

We weren't particularly heavy-footed in our time behind the wheel of the Tremor, either, showing that all this off-road performance does indeed come at the expense of fuel efficiency.

Is it Practical and Spacious?

While the Tremor’s list of off-road enhancements is lengthy, step inside the cabin and it's a very familiar affair.

This is a damn good thing, too, because the Everest remains one of the most practical members of this part of the market, making it a top choice for large families or long-distance road-trippers alike.

With the added 29mm ride height increase, the heavy-duty side steps and grab handle on the A-pillar certainly come in handy for shorter drivers.

2025 ford everest tremor interior

Once you're inside, headroom and forward visibility are great for tall drivers thanks to the lofty headliner, while shorter front occupants pick up a great deal of adjustment for the seats and a fully adjustable steering wheel.

All the fundamental boxes are confidently ticked by the Everest and Ranger cabin, which are identical from the firm but surprisingly comfortable driver's seat.

Ergonomics are sound, with some soft finishes where your elbows fall, with the door surrounds providing a soft place for your right knee, though the left one misses out and can bang against the central console's hard plastic finish.

If you’re looking for boatloads of Tremor-specific special touches inside the cabin, you're out of luck.

2025 ford everest tremor seats

Likewise, if you're not a huge fan of black plastic trim, which covers much of the centre console, though it remains a better option than piano black, which is easily scratched and a magnet for dust and fingerprints.

Some elements of the cabin don’t scream premium, though it’s hard to criticise Ford for focusing on what’s underneath the Tremor’s platform, rather than what's inside.

When it comes to storage, there's no shortage up front.

Beneath the dashboard and 12-inch display lies a rubber-lined wireless charging pad and another little cubby sitting in front of both USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

A little further back, there's a cut-out in the centre console for smaller items, a pair of cupholders a nice amount of real estate in the folding armrest, and large cut-outs in the door bins to accommodate larger bottles.

The front passenger has access to two handy gloveboxes, while a pair of pop-out cupholders remain at the ready at each corner of the dashboard.

Move to the second row and the Everest makes short work of accommodating adults, even behind a leggy driver.

2025 ford everest tremor second row seats

There’s no shortage of headroom for those seated in the second row of the Everest’s cabin while the back of the front row seats feature a neat little cut-out to help provide more space for your legs, meaning you're unlikely to ever hear a complaint from kids seated back here.

Amenities in the second row of the Everest's cabin come in the form of dedicated fan controls for the roof-mounted air vents, map pockets, a pair of USB chargers and a 400-watt power outlet, large door bins and a folding armrest with pop-out cupholders.

Accessing the third row of the Everest is made relatively easy thanks to a set of rails for the second row bench seat.

Grab the top of the seat and it things fold forward and slide toward the first row, providing just enough space for kids to squeeze through.

Obviously, it’s a kids-only affair in the third row of the Everest's cabin, but not a hugely cramped one, thanks to decent legroom and some small windows that allow some light to enter the rearmost of the cabin.

2025 ford everest tremor third row seats

For the parents out there, the Everest receives two pairs of ISOFIX anchors on each of the second row outboard seats as well as top tether mounts on the seatbacks.

You'll also find top tether mounts on the back of the third row seats, allowing the Everest to accommodate a very impressive five child seats in total.

All up, the Everest stands ready for the family challenge and remains one of the most practical of its direct rivals.

How Big is the Ford Everest Tremor's Boot?

The Everest rounds out its family-friendly packaging with a pretty decent amount of real estate for cargo.

With all three rows of seats standing in a seven-seat format, things aren't huge, but still measure a respectable 259L, which is enough to house school bags or a large supermarket run.

2025 ford everest tremor boot

Fold the third row down and, in a five-seat format, you've got 898L worth of cargo space to play around with in the back of the Everest.

Fold down all three rows and there’s a total of 1,823L worth of cargo space in the Everest's boot, providing tonnes of space for activities, bulky cargo and sports equipment.

  • Everest Boot Space Minimum: 259L

  • Everest Boot Space Five-Seat: 898L

  • Everest Boot Space Maximum: 1,823L

Is the Ford Everest Safe?

Ford bundles in a decent list of active safety tech into all members of the Everest range, including the Tremor.

As standard, Everest buyers pick up forward and reverse autonomous emergency braking as well as post-collision braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts.

2025 ford everest tremor back side view

You'll also receive lane-keep assistance with lane departure alerts, driver attention alerts, rear-view camera with front & rear parking sensors and nine airbags inside the cabin.

Ticking the box on Ford's Touring Pack adds a tow bar, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, a surround-view monitor and the Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature.

Does the Ford Everest Have an ANCAP Safety Rating?

The Ford Everest Tremor has been awarded full marks from ANCAP after scoring the following marks in its 2022 testing.

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 86%

  • Child Occupant Protection: 93%

  • Vulnerable Road User Protection: 74%

  • Safety Assist: 86%

It’s worth noting that if you’re ticking the box on Ford’s 'Rough Terrain Pack,' the Everest actually loses the five-star safety rating.

That’s because the rough terrain pack adds an upgraded steel bumper bar that hasn't undergone ANCAP testing.

What Warranty Does the Ford Everest Tremor Come With?

Ford offers the Everest Tremor with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.

Buyers also receive up to seven years' worth of roadside assistance if they keep it serviced within the network.

Ford's capped-price servicing program stretches out to four years and caps servicing prices for the Everest Tremor at $379 per visit, totalling $1,516 over four years.

2025 ford everest tremor australia

If you’re willing to pay upfront, you’ll receive five years' worth of capped price servicing.

Service intervals for the Everest Tremor stand at 12 months or 15,000 kilometres, whichever elapses first.

Our Verdict: Is the Ford Everest Tremor Worth it?

We won't mince words, here - we absolutely love the approach Ford has taken with the Everest Tremor.

2025 ford everest tremor front

While the Everest platform is a very solid performer off-road, news of the added ground clearance and adjustable Bilstein suspension hardware will come as music to the ears of enthusiasts looking for an adventure-ready package right off the factory floor.

Even more impressive is the fact that Ford’s numerous hardware additions haven't come at the expense of its everyday appeal and civility on the road.

Ford's V6 turbo-diesel unit is a peach, offering stacks of torque for the daily grind or when loaded with a heavy trailer.

There's a lot to like about the Everest Tremor, especially on the value front when you compare it to higher-ranking members of the latest Prado range.

If you get greedy with the optional extras, however, you'll see the price creep up very quickly and the Tremor does see its value proposition weakened a little, though it remains a mighty strong contender at the more hardcore end of the seven-seat 4x4 wagon segment.

As a result, we’d highly encourage you to add the Everest Tremor to your shortlist if you're in the market for an adventure-ready family car or a towing powerhouse for your next lap around the country.
