The Foton Tunland V7 is a new entrant to Australia’s dual-cab ute segment that hopes to take on some of the biggest names while undercutting them on price. Foton’s Tunland V7 looks sharp and aims to win over buyers with 3.5 tonnes of towing power from a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with mild-hybrid tech and a comfort-focussed double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension system while placing a heavy emphasis on the value side of the equation for Aussie ute buyers.

Overview

After departing the Australian market back in 2019, the Chinese company is back on Australian shoes, hoping that its work-ready lineup of utes, headlined by the V7, will be quick to give it a solid footing in the market. The Tunland V7 aims to take on the biggest names in the segment with its bold, American-inspired styling a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel mild-hybrid engine pushing out 120kW of power and 450Nm of torque that offers 3,500kg of braked towing capacity, with power thrown to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Inside the cabin, the Tunland V7 receives a massive 14.6-inch infotainment system and a three-dimensional cockpit design to keep things feeling futuristic in the front of the cockpit.
