Vehicle overview
Skoda’s Karoq is an under-appreciated gem of the midsize SUV segment, particularly if you’re looking for a more premium, European package with a particularly strong value proposition. Under the skin, the Karoq is based on the same platform you’ll find in the Volkswagen Tiguan, which makes it lovely on the road and a family-friendly option. Skoda offers the latest Karoq lineup with a choice of two engines, with base 110TSI versions coming powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, powering the front wheels via an eight-speed transmission and sipping 6.6L per 100km on the combined cycle. Outputs increase to 140kW and 320Nm in the 140TSI’s larger 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, which is offered with an on-demand 4x4 system. Inside, the Karoq’s cabin is nice and practical, with ample second row accommodation and a healthy 521L boot that expands to 1,630L with the rear seats folded.
