The Kia Sportage is a comfortable and particularly user-friendly midsize SUV package for the masses.

It ticks all the important boxes around town while, thanks to some local suspension tuning, riding confidently on rougher Aussie roads that make it a true all-rounder in the medium SUV segment.

There’s also a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 132kW of power and 265Nm of torque, which is offered in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive formats and has snappy shifts thanks to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Finally, fuel-conscious buyers have the option of a hybrid that pairs a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor producing 169kW of power and 350Nm of torque, but it is offered solely as a front-wheel drive package.

Braked towing capacity figures for the Sportage range stand at 1,900kg, dropping down to 1,650kg in the case of the Sportage HEV Hybrid.

On the road, the Sportage is user-friendly around town, smooth on the highway and confident on rougher Aussie roads thanks to its local suspension tune, making it quite the all-rounder.
