What Features Does the Nissan Ariya Have?

Nissan's entry-level Ariya Engage range comes riding on a set of 19-inch alloys and picks up LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, cloth upholstery with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry & start, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad and a rear-view camera with front & rear parking sensors.

Stepping up to the Ariya Advance range adds upgraded cloth and leatherette upholstery, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, a set of LED fog lights, power-adjustable front seats, a powered boot lift, rear privacy glass and a surround-view monitor.

The Ariya Advance+ lineup scores a set of sequential LED indicators, a panoramic sunroof, a power sliding centre console, a head-up display, upgraded leatherette and ultrasuede upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats.

Finally, Nissan's range-topping Ariya Evolve picks up 20-inch alloys, adaptive LED headlights, premium blue Nappa leather upholstery, a digital rear-view mirror, a three-phase onboard AC charger, power adjustment for the steering wheel and auto-tilting side mirrors.

Connectivity & Infotainment Features

Nissan has given the Ariya range a pretty solid technology suite to keep it competitive in the segment.

There's a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired seamlessly with another 12.3-inch display for the driver, with a unique little curve between the two.

Both displays make a solid first impression when entering the cabin and offer solid brightness levels and a fast refresh rate.

2025 nissan ariya connectivity

Nissan throws in AM/FM and DAB+ digital radio alongside satellite navigation, USB-A and USB-C ports and a six-speaker sound system in the base model.

Upgrading to the Ariya Advance or above adds a more powerful ten-speaker BOSE sound system.

Does the Nissan Ariya Have Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto?

Interestingly, wireless smartphone connectivity is reserved for just one major phone ecosystem in the Ariya.

Nissan's 12.3-inch infotainment system offers wireless Apple CarPlay for iOS users, though owners of an Android device will need to bring their own USB cable, because there is no wireless Android Auto currently available in the Ariya.

How Far Can the Nissan Ariya Drive on a Charge?

Nissan offers the Ariya range with a choice of two battery packs.

The Ariya Engage and Advance pick up a 63kWh battery pack which, combined with energy efficiency figures of 18.4kWh per 100km, can drive up to a claimed 385km on a single charge.

Stepping up to the Advance+ or Evolve adds a larger 87kWh battery pack.

The Ariya Advance+ consumes electrons at a rate of 19.1kWh per 100km, translating to range figures of 504km per charge, while the dual-motor Evolve's 20.8kWh/100km efficiency numbers figures to a range of 487km.

  • Ariya Engage & Advance Battery Size: 63kWh

  • Ariya Engage & Advance Efficiency: 18.4kWh per 100km

  • Ariya Engage & Advance Range: 385km

  • Ariya Evolve Efficiency: 20.8kWh per 100km

  • Ariya Advance Range: 504km

  • Ariya Evolve Range: 487km

How Fast can you Charge the Nissan Ariya?

The Ariya offers decent DC fast-charging speeds but is far from the segment’s best if you're in a hurry.

All variants can charge their battery packs at peak speeds of 130kW, with access to the right DC fast charger.

This translates to a claimed 10 - 80 per cent charge in around 35 minutes.

AC charging speeds stand at an impressive 22kW in the Advance+ and Evolve, dropping to 7kW in the entry-level Engage & Advance.

  • Maximum DC Charging Speeds: 130kW

  • 10 - 80% DC Fast-Charging Time: 35 minutes

  • Maximum AC Charging Speed: 7kW - 22kW (Engage & Advance vs Advance+ and Evolve)

Is the Nissan Ariya Comfortable to Drive?

The Nissan Ariya ticks all the important boxes for buyers in the market for a smooth and comfortable electric SUV package.

It's well mannered around town thanks to its lightweight and communicative steering while remaining user-friendly in tight quarters thanks to its nimble handling and healthy turning circle.

The entry-level Ariya Engage and Advance variants come powered by a single electric motor that pushes out 160kW of power and 300Nm of torque to the front wheels.

Stepping up to the Ariya Advance+ with the larger battery pack gets a slightly more powerful electric motor that produces 178kW of power and 300Nm of torque to handle the extra weight.

Buyers looking for more power have the option of the flagship Ariya Evolve, which receives a dual motor setup pushing out a combined 290kW of power and 600Nm of torque.

This makes the Evolve seriously brisk off the line, dropping the 0-100km/h time from the eight-second mark down to 5.46 seconds.

Whichever motor setup you go for, the Ariya picks up all the important hallmarks of an approachable midsize SUV.

The suspension does well to iron out small and moderate bumps around town, though it's worth noting that the ride quality does get a bit stiffer in the flagship Evolve variant, which rides on 20-inch alloys.

Is it Practical and Spacious?

Climb aboard and the Ariya presents a particularly neat and tidy interior.

It’s a futuristic take on a somewhat familiar cabin layout we've seen from the company that dabbles in some new designs and materials.

There's a departure from the button-heavy layout of its internal combustion siblings, with Nissan focusing on a clean, minimalist design that looks great at first glance.

All your conventional buttons for the climate controls have been incorporated into the dashboard itself with the help of some touch-sensitive, haptic buttons.

Ergonomics are solid, with plenty of headroom on offer for taller front occupants and a fully adjustable driving position to help you get comfortable.

In terms of storage, your options are solid thanks to the Ariya's battery-electric architecture, which has allowed Nissan to get creative with the layout, but not crazy for the segment.

There's a glovebox smack-bang in the centre of the dashboard, added storage inside the floating centre console and an additional glovebox in front of the passenger, as well as some bottle holders.

There's also a clever, power-sliding centre console fitted to the Advance+ and Evolve that offers a small amount of storage inside the folding armrest, haptic feedback buttons and some added storage underneath.

There's also a nice flat floor design between the front seats which helps to keep things feeling spacious.

All up, storage options in the Ariya are solid, but nothing ground-breaking for a segment known for its extremely practical interior designs up front.

Move to the rear and the Ariya stacks up as a particularly family-friendly midsize SUV package.

There's enough space for an adult to sit behind a tall driving position, providing tonnes of space for your legs to stretch out in all directions thanks to the flat floor design.

Headroom is, however, a little tight for taller rear occupants when the panoramic sunroof is in place.

For the parents out there, the Ariya picks up a pair of ISOFIX anchors on the outboard seats as well as top tether mounts hiding behind the seatbacks.

Accessing the second row seats and installing a bulky child seat is a simple task thanks to the super wide-aperture doors and wide clearance between the seatbase and first row seats that can eat up even the bulkiest of kid seats.

How Big is the Nissan Ariya's Boot?

The Nissan Ariya offers a decent amount of cargo storage in the boot, though it doesn't lead the segment.

With the rear seats standing, the Ariya's boot measures in at 408L in higher-ranking members with the larger battery pack.

The Ariya's boot expands to 466L for variants fitted with the smaller 63kWh battery pack.

That’s more than enough for a decent load of shopping and school bags, though it's outdone by many rivals in the segment.

Fold the rear seats down and you've got between 1,280 - 1,350L worth of space for bulky cargo and sports gear at your disposal in standard and long range variants, respectively.

Is it Safe?

Nissan bundles a healthy amount of safety kit into the Ariya range.

As standard, there's AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assistance, tyre pressure monitoring, driver attention alerts, traffic sign detection and a rear-view camera with front & rear parking sensors.

Buyers upgrading to the Ariya Advance or higher pick up a surround-view monitor with moving object detection.

Does the Nissan Ariya Have an ANCAP Safety Rating?

The Nissan Ariya has picked up a five-star ANCAP safety rating after scoring the following marks in its 2022 testing.

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 86%

  • Child Occupant Protection: 89%

  • Vulnerable Road User Protection: 74%

  • Safety Assist: 95%

What Warranty does the Nissan Ariya Come With?

One area the Ariya really takes its rivals to town is when it comes to warranty coverage.

That’s because the Ariya receives Nissan's ten-year/300,000 kilometre conditional warranty coverage, so long as you keep it serviced on time, within the dealer network.

Nissan's warranty drops to five years if you service the Ariya outside the network.

There's also a separate eight-year/160,000 kilometre warranty for the battery pack and high-voltage components that ensures the pack will retain at least 75 per cent capacity.

Buyers also pick a roadside assistance membership that stretches out to ten years if you stay within the network, alongside capped-price servicing.

Servicing prices for the Ariya range stand at $299 per visit, totalling $1,495 over the course of five years.

Service intervals for the Ariya stand at 12 months or 20,000 kilometres, whichever elapses first.

Our Verdict: Is the Nissan Ariya Worth it?

The Nissan Ariya is a welcome addition to Australia's ever-growing midsize electric SUV segment.

2025 nissan ariya australia

There's plenty to like about the Ariya, especially in the more affordable trim levels, which take the fight to some key rivals on the value front while matching them on equipment levels and bettering them on the warranty front.

More premium versions are, however, a bit of a harder sell simply due to the state of competition in the segment.

As a result, we think either the Engage base model or the Advance+ version with the larger battery pack are the most competitive members of the Ariya lineup, striking a healthy balance of value and range, in the case of the latter.
